Peppermint and chocolate, oh how I love these two flavors combined! And with Christmas just around the corner, there is no better time to whip up a batch of these delectable Triple Peppermint Brownies to entice Santa to sit down and enjoy the moment! The jolly guy will glow from head to toe as he gobbles up these incredibly satisfying morsels which include soft and gooey peppermint patties surrounded by a rich chocolate brownie base, engulfed in melted candy cake kisses and topped off with a delightful little crunch from a sprinkling of delicately chopped candy cane kisses. Oh my, Christmas never tasted so good!
Triple Peppermint Brownies
(recipe adapted from Hershey’s York Peppermint Patty package)
1 box (19.5 oz) Pillsbury Classic Fudge Brownie Mix (or your favorite)
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup vegetable oil
2 large eggs
15-20 small (1-1/2-inch) Hershey’s York Peppermint Patties, unwrapped
1 package (10 oz) Candy Cane flavored Hershey’s Kisses, unwrapped
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare a 13×9-inch glass baking dish with non-sick cooking spray and set aside.
In a large bowl combine brownie mix, water, oil and eggs and mix until combined. Pour about 3/4 of the mixture into the prepared dish. Arrange peppermint patties about 1/2 inch apart in single layer over batter. Spread remaining batter over patties.
Bake 50 to 55 minutes or until brownies begin to pull away from sides of pan. Cool completely in pan on wire rack.
Place half of the Candy Cane kisses in a microwave-safe dish and heat for about 30 seconds, or until melted. Stir and drizzle over the brownies. Coarsely chop the remaining Candy Cane kisses and sprinkle over the top of the brownies. Cut into squares. Makes about 24 brownies.
Leave out some of these decadent Triple Peppermint Brownies with a big mug of scrumptious hot chocolate and you’ll definitely be on the “nice” list, however Santa may not be able to make it back up the chimney after he indulges in eating a plateful of them!
